Birdcage of Horrorshttps://github.com/DerekPascarella/BirdcageOfHorrors-EnglishPatchDreamcast![]() The film series was available through the Dreamcast Direct online service and was uniquely presented in 365 one-minute episodes across each of the six discs. Each episode became accessible gradually over a year, from October 1st, 1999 to October 1st, 2000. Originally, viewers had to connect their Dreamcast to the internet daily and download special save files to their VMU to unlock new episodes. Additionally, each entry of Birdcage of Horrors was only available to those who completed the previous chapters. Additionally, a dedicated Birdcage of Horrors website was hosted by ASCII Entertainment & Communications where viewers could stream the series using Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or QuickTime Player on their PC or Mac. Shortly after the final episode was released, the servers went offline. While there does exist a special VMU save file that allows viewers to watch the content on all six GD-ROMs, this English translation patch removes this requirement. Instead, all six discs now function as standalone pieces of software. STATUS: Complete ✓ LATEST VERSION: 1.2 Additional resources:

Whereas X-mode is the original version of the core game, Y-Mode and Z-Mode have more drastic gameplay changes. Y-Mode makes the gems break as soon as three or more are aligned in a row, column, or diagonally, like in Columns, whereas Z-mode makes lines of gems rise up from the bottom of the screen, and the player controls a 2x2 square cursor, with which they rotate already-placed pieces, similarly to Tetris Attack. Grauen no Torikago (Birdcage of Horrors)https://github.com/DerekPascarella/GrauenNoTorikago-RestorationPatchDreamcast![]() Grauen no Torikago (Birdcage of Horrors) is a horror/murder mystery film series produced and published by Sega and took the form of six multimedia GD-ROM discs. While the format and structure of these discs is not technically MiL-CD, they do leverage Sega's own MiL-CD playback software. The film series was available exclusively through the Dreamcast Direct online service and was uniquely presented in 365 one-minute episodes across each of the six discs. Each episode became accessible gradually over a year, from October 1st, 1999 to October 1st, 2000. Originally, viewers had to connect their Dreamcast to the internet daily and download special save files to their VMU to unlock new episodes. Additionally, each entry of Grauen no Torikago was only available to those who completed the previous chapters. Shortly after the final episode was released, the servers went offline. Until now, to watch the entire series, one was required to use a special VMU save file or extract the videos from the disc image itself for external playback. By applying these patches to all six discs, one can experience them in their entirety without any special save file or without the need for anyone to magically restore the now long-dead servers that had previously been used to unlock video content. While these patches currently do nothing to translate any of the video content (i.e., add subtitles), such may be tackled in a future project. STATUS: Complete ✓ |
Pop'n Music "Append Discs" 3 and 4https://github.com/DerekPascarella/PopnMusicAppendDiscs-StandalonePatchDreamcast![]() Pop'n Music (ポップンミュージック) is a rhythm game for the SEGA Dreamcast. It is designed to be used with the Pop'n Music Controller. The arcade version was released internationally, but all of the ports were only released in Japan. It stands as one of the many titles in Konami's long-running rhythm game franchise. Notes scroll toward the bottom of the screen along nine tracks, and the player must tap the correct buttons in time with the music to play along. Play well, and the "groove meter" increases, but play poorly and it will drop. If the groove meter is high enough at the end of the song, the player can move on to the next song. Unlike most of Konami's Bemani series, the Pop'n Music interface is not designed to represent any actual musical instrument. Instead, it uses nine buttons, each three-and-a-half-inches in diameter, laid out in two rows (since the location test of Wonderland, a multitouch panel is added). Five buttons are the bottom row, the other four being the top. Like in most Bemani games, color-coded notes (in this game called "Pop-kun" [ポップ君] and anthropomorphized with faces) fall from the top of the screen in nine columns that correspond to the buttons. When a note reaches the red line at the bottom of the screen, the player presses the button or tap the panel, which triggers a sound within the song. STATUS: Complete ✓ |

Alltynexhttps://github.com/DerekPascarella/Alltynex-EnglishPatchFMTowns![]() Given the Marty includes a 386 CPU, this is seen largely as a non-issue, as Alltynex requires a 486 CPU for full-speed gameplay. However, a new version of this self-booting disc image was created for this patch, using TOWNS OS V2.1 L40, so that it can be used on the Marty, even with slowdown. This also future-proofs this patch should future modifications to the Marty allow for a sensible CPU upgrade. STATUS: Complete ✓ LATEST VERSION: 1.1 CONSOLE: FM Towns / FM Towns Marty |
Jung Rhythmhttps://github.com/DerekPascarella/JungRhythm-EnglishPatchSaturn![]() The player takes the role of Vanilla Essence, a young girl who dreams of being a star. The story follows her quest from eating breakfast through to a duet with her favorite superstar, the earth-loving rocker, Chorking! The gameplay itself takes the form of call-and-response dance and song duets with various characters, where the other characters will sing a line and the player is asked to repeat it. Lyrics appear at the top of the screen, while input prompts appear in the first of a pair of bars along the bottom of the screen as they sing. Ad-libbed inputs are also permitted, and there are specific ad-lib segments. Vanilla Essence's performance is then graded in five categories and given an overall score. If players score high enough, they're allowed to continue to the next story segment. Between story segments there is a short full-motion video cutscene connecting the dots. The game additionally includes a practice mode, as well as a two-player "BATTLE" mode, where players can compare their skills. STATUS: Complete ✓ LATEST VERSION: 1.0 CONSOLE: SEGA Saturn |

Castlevania: Symphony of the Nighthttps://github.com/DerekPascarella/CastlevaniaSymphonyoftheNight-8BitDoDIYKitPatchSaturn![]() Note that this patch is meant to be applied to the v1.1 Ultimate patch in order to change the button combination used to display the in-game map. By default, the original patch uses Up+Start as the shortcut, which is unfortunately a reserved hotkey on the 8BitDo DIY SEGA Saturn controller kit.
